Atarazanas Market

Built between 1876 and 1879, and of Muslim origin, Atarazanas Market in Malaga is the city's central market.
Nowadays, this traditional market is divided into three parts; one for fish, one for meat, and one for fruit and vegetables. It’s also a very popular place to have something to eat. Many of the fish stalls have tables, and prepare fresh food for customers.

Malaga Cathedral

La Santa Iglesia Catedral de la Encarnación is the official name for Malaga Cathedral, one of the most valued Renaissance churches in Andalusia. Malaga cathedral was built on the site of the Great Mosque between 1528 and 1782. However, this architectural ensemble remains unfinished, due to the absence of its south tower. For this reason, the cathedral is referred to as "La Manquita" (The One-armed) by the people of Malaga.

Calle Larios

This street was named after Manuel Domingo Larios y Larios, the second Marquis of Larios. The Larios family was the driving force behind the development of the textile industry in the 19th century. Just 350 metres long and 16 metres wide, Calle Larios is one of the most popular shopping streets in the world. The most iconic, elegant and famous pedestrian street in Malaga is always buzzing with activity. Its shops and businesses are open all hours, and decorated for every occasion, whether it's a local or national fiesta or festival. It also hosts art and photography exhibitions on a regular basis.

Roman Theatre Malaga

The Roman Theatre is the most significant exponent of Rome's presence in the city of Malaga. A symbolic political building next to the port, it represents power and social hierarchy. Built using a combination of constructive methods, it takes advantage of the natural incline of the Alcazaba hill to support a tiered seating area. The rest is erected on man-made foundations. Its dimensions and characteristics are in accordance with the prototype of Vitrubio, a classical model very similar to other theatres in the Baetica. It was built by Emperor Augustus and used as a theatre until the 3rd century. In the 5th and 6th centuries it was used as a cemetery, and it later provided materials for the restoration of the Alcazaba. After a century of being hidden away, the theatre reopened in 1951 with the aim of complementing Malaga's cultural scene.

Alcazaba

Malaga's rich culture is an accepted fact. Many different civilisations have passed through the city, leaving countless traces scattered throughout the historic centre. Undoubtedly, The Alcazaba of Malaga is one of the greatest gifts the Muslims left in Malaga. Thousands of tourists visit this monument every year as they explore the city.
