If you are spending the summer in Malaga, take note of these plans!

Malaga is becoming, in its own right, one of the trendiest tourist destinations. If you don’t know what to do in Malaga in summer, it’s because you’ve never visited, we understand, and that’s why we give you plans and summer activities in Malaga.

Numerous media are full of compliments for the capital, such as Le Monde or the Daily Mail, which defines it as “the new Barcelona”. On the one hand, Malaga has increased its number of visitors thanks to the new museums; on the other hand, it continues to receive beach tourism. If you are one of those who will be spending part of the summer in Malaga, you should make a note of these plans that we suggest.

Trendy beach bars in Malaga

Finally, “the chiringuitos!”

The beach bars on the beach are something almost exclusive to the Costa del Sol and a summer classic in Malaga. Enjoying a good plate of fish in one of the legendary beach bars is a must. After a day in the sun, you feel like getting rid of the salt and sand and settling down in one of the bars that populate our beaches. Miguelito el cariñoso, Sicsú, El tintero… Pedregalejo beach is one of the most interesting when it comes to finding a chiringuito to eat, but it is not the only one: the Huelin area is also perfect for tasting fish at democratic prices. Litoral Pacífico or Rocamar are just some of the many that you will find in this area.

Terral Málaga Festival 2019

Between 22 June and 7 August, and at the Cervantes Theatre, the legendary Terral Malaga festival takes place. Ten dates throughout the summer in Malaga with great artists. An opportunity to enjoy some of these magnificent musical events. Each of these concerts starts at 20:30 and this year’s guests? As great as they are varied. Fado singer Mariza, one of the most acclaimed Portuguese performers. Tomatito, the guitarist from Almería, and the Dominican pianist Michel Camilo. But there are many more: Rufus Wainwright, The Chieftains, Ute Lemper… You have the complete programme and the links to get your ticket on the Málaga de Cultura website.

The centre at night

The centre of the capital always has an added charm, but even more so at night. Why is that? For one thing, the heat is fading and we have, as long as the terral doesn’t prevent it, a magnificent mild climate that invites you to sit on an outdoor terrace. If you fancy enjoying a panoramic night view, terraces such as the AC Málaga Palacio or the Batik are ideal. But if you prefer to be at street level, there are countless options. Would you like a recommendation? The terrace of El Pimpi, with views of the Roman Theatre and, at the top, the Alcazaba, is one of the most beautiful views of our city!

If you like to party, you can’t miss the Malaga Fair 2019!

The Malaga Fair is a summer classic for tourists and locals alike. During the day, the city centre fills up with people dancing, singing and having fun while enjoying a Cartojal or a beer in the open air. Most of the bars in the area have their own offerings such as flamenco shows in Malaga and it is common to see locals dressed in typical Malaga costumes. In the afternoon, and well into the night, the party moves to the Real de la Feria, on the outskirts, where the revelry lasts until the early hours of the morning. What’s on offer there? Concerts, stalls, music, attractions for the little ones… We’ll tell you more about what to do at this fair later on.

How long does the Malaga Fair 2019 last?

This year there is one more day! The Malaga Fair 2019 will last 9 days. Make a note of the dates: from the 15th to the 24th of August.

Buy the best products in Atarazanas

If you’re staying in one of our tourist flats in Malaga centre, you’ll probably end up having lunch or dinner at home one day, which is normal, because you’ll feel great! Well, if you want to try the best products of the city concentrated in one place, we recommend you to go to the Central Market of Atarazanas. For one thing, for the sheer pleasure of seeing it: it’s a 19th-century building that preserves the door of an old naval workshop of Nasrid origin. Just to see that door alone is worth the trip. But the market, even said by the locals, is a real marvel. You can buy top quality fruit, meat, fish, vegetables… of the highest quality. And, of course, you can enjoy some tapas in the bar – a great plan for a leisurely morning!

A stroll around Muelle Uno

Muelle Uno is one of those areas that are a must-see in summer in Malaga. On the one hand, the little ones will find lots of outdoor activities, starting with the Palmeral de las Sorpresas. But there are also plenty of places to stop for dinner or tapas.

Muelle Uno de Málaga

Muelle Uno contains the Centre Pompidou, whose team will welcome you with open arms and that charm and good treatment of visitors that has made them a model of cultural management and one of the best museums in Malaga. And finally, the open-air flea market will delight shopping enthusiasts. You’ll find clothes, costume jewellery, souvenirs and accessories that you’ll fall in love with.

Shopping (and ice-cream) on Calle Larios

Calle Larios in Malaga is one of the city’s main thoroughfares. Converted into a pedestrianised street several years ago, it is the perfect place to stop off in summer when the sun goes down. The street is covered with awnings to avoid the excessive heat, which makes it particularly pleasant to stroll among the many shops in Malaga. What can you find? Well, in the same street, from top-quality fashion and accessories to the best ice cream in the capital, in Casa Mira (their turrón is also legendary, although it is not the season).

Calle Larios de Málaga

In the surrounding area there are also numerous bars and restaurants of recognised prestige. Calle Sánchez Pastor, Plaza de las Flores or Strachan are places very close to this street where you can enjoy tapas, typical Malaga wines or an excellent dinner.

Malaga, from the top

One of those perfect moments to end a summer night in Malaga is to go on the Ferris wheel next to the port. The views of the bay from the top are absolutely spectacular. After a stroll around the port, and just before returning home, get on it with the family and enjoy one of the most special moments you will experience in our city.

‘Bonus track’: Starlite Festival

The Starlite Festival has been held in Marbella since 2012. In a secluded estate of the municipality, in Nagüeles, numerous artists of great stature gather every summer. Numerous other events are also held as part of this event. For example, the Starlite Gala, in which Antonio Banderas recognises the solidarity work of numerous celebrities. There is also room for cinema, art and fashion. There are also shops, open-air terraces where you can enjoy food and drinks… We recommend you take a taxi or Cabify service to get there; or if you have your own car, you can park and then take a bus from Marbella. Here you have it well explained. And what concerts are there? Countless: from Juanes to The Beach Boys, Il Divo, Maluma, Jaime Cullum, Luis Fonsi, Sting… There’s something for everyone! You can buy your tickets on the event’s website.

We hope these plans are to your liking. However, when you come back here, ask us if you want to do something special, we’ll be happy to help you!
