The Real de la Feria: day and night

A place not to be missed is the Real de la Feria. On the night of Thursday 15th August at 21:30h it will be inaugurated with the lighting of the artistic illumination of the main entrance. The streets are also filled with stalls selling sweets and attractions for young and old alike..

Dresses, polka dots and hats

One of the most picturesque and impressive features of these dates is to be able to witness the parade of women’s gypsy dresses alongside the typical costumes of the men. If you want to get infected and live an authentic fair, take into account that every corner is full of polka dots, flowers in the hair or Cordovan hats, don’t forget yours. If Malaga is known for anything, it is for its traditional sweet wine, at the fair, “El Cartojal” is the wine of the party and bottles are passed from one hand to another. A little of this smooth wine will refresh you and make you feel like a real Malagueño. It is very common to find yourself among people dancing with a glass in your hand, you can also try the “rebujito” or any other drink you fancy.

Tapas and typical dishes: The best of the local gastronomy

For food lovers, another aspect that should not be missing in your Feria experience is the tasting of Malaga dishes. Among the most typical are fried anchovies, fried fish, peppers, fried aubergines and potato omelette. Enjoy a group of dishes, mostly of seafood essence, where you can’t miss a tapa of ham and cheese or a good paella. We are sure that this will be one of the favourite parts of your visit.

How to get to the Malaga Fair?

The best way to get to the Feria de Málaga is by public transport. The EMT offers 24-hour buses from all parts of the city, which will take you to both the fair in the centre and the fair in the Real. You can buy the fair bus card with 10 journeys for 12.95 euros. On the other hand, if you come from outside Malaga and you bring your car, parking should not be a problem, as every year more than 8,000 parking spaces are provided, located at: Feria Norte-Palacio de Ferias, Los Prados, Huerta del Correo, Teatinos, Pierrot-Centro Comercial.

If you are in a municipality in the outskirts of Malaga, you can take the suburban train to the Victoria Kent stop, which will leave you just a 10-minute walk from the Feria del Real. In addition, you also have the option of taking an intercity bus that connects the city of Malaga with the whole province.
